Mudra Institute of Communications (MICA, Ahmedabad, has invited application for admission to the Post Graduate Programme in Communications Management (PGPCM) leading to Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Communications) – (PGDM-C) for 2010 – 2012.

Students Having a bachelor’s degree from any of the recognised university in India or Abroad in any descipline can apply for the program. Students appearing for final year examination in march 2010 can also apply for this program.

The minimum requirement of getting selection is CAT/GMAT. Applicant should have CAT 2009 score or GMAT score of 31.12.2007 or later. Indian students can also apply with GMAT scores. GMAT score of 600+ will be considered in lieu of CAT.

Candidates short listed from CAT or GMAT have to appear for MICA Admissions Test (MICAT) to be held in February/March at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai.

Those short listed from MICAT can appear for Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI) in march/April 2010

Eligibility: Applicant should have completed a three year Bachelor’s Degree Programme or its equivalent in any discipline in an Institution recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

The GATE committee, which comprises of representatives from the administering institutes, is the sole authority for regulating the examination and declaring the results.
Eligibility: The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear in GATE 2010:
(a) Bachelor Degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such Programmes.
(b) Master Degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such Programmes.
(c) Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master Degree Programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master Degree Programme and Dual Degree Programme in Engineering/Technology.
(d) Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by Professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AMICE(I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Commonwealth Split-Site Doctoral Programme, Last Date October 30

University Grants Commission has invited applications for the award of Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships for the academic year 2010, offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom.

Scholarships are available in all disciplines including Medicine and Dentistry. Applicant should be citizen of India. Applicant should hold by 1st October, 2010, a first Degree of upper Second Class Honours standard (or above) or a Second Class Degree and a relevant Post Graduate qualification which will normally be a Master’s Degree and in the fields of Medicine and Dentistry, have qualified between 1st October 2000 and 1st October, 2005. The Scholarship is for 12 months period of study or two six-month periods and will commence in September/October 2001 in UK.

Details of the Scholarship along with the prescribed application form are available in all the Universities/Institutes/UGC Regional Offices and UGC Head Quarters, New Delhi (IC- II Section, Room No.505). National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, has invited the application for the Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) and Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (PGDPD) of the Institute for 2010-11 academic year.

Courses: Four year GDPD Programmes which includes a foundation year, are offered in

(i) Faculty of Industrial Design [Product Design (15 seats), Furniture & Interior Design (10 seats), Ceramic & Glass Design (10 seats)]

Upper age limit is 27 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on June 1, 2010. Those applying for more than one Programme should send in separate application forms. One cannot apply for more than two PG Programmes.

Seats are reserved for SC/ST/PH/OBC candidates as per Government of India nrms. Test for GDPD & PGDPD for eligible applicants will be held at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

Test for PGDPD will be held at all centres on January 9, 2010 and that for GDPD at all centres on January, 10, 2010. Issue of Application from starts on October 9, 2009. Forms can be had from select branches of Bank of India (list to be available at www.nid.edu) on payment of Rs.1500/- towards the cost of the form and Rs.50/- as Bank charges. Forms can also be had from ‘Academic Office, NID, Ahmedabad’ by sending a Demand Draft for Rs.1500/- (Rs.750/- for SC/ST/PH/OBC who should send a copy of the relevant document form the competent authority), drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of ‘National Institute of Design’ payable at Ahmedabad along with a self addressed envelope of size 9” x 12” with stamps worth Rs.40/- affixed and the cover marked ‘NID Admissions 2010’. ELIGIBILITY

ADMISSION TESTS

The admission Test comprises: Written Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

i. Written test is of two hours duration. Written test consists objective type questions in the area of General Knowledge, English Language, Qualitative Analysis, Decision Making, Interpretation of Data etc. Candidates having valid CAT/MAT/GMAT/GATE/ XAT/ATMA/JMET scores are exempted from NICMAR written test.
ii. Personal Interview (PI)
An expert panel of the Admissions Committee will interview each candidate.
iii. Group Discussions (GD)
- Candidates may be divided into the groups, each group comprising not more than 12 candidates. Grouping must be done randomly by serial order of registration numbers.
- Each group may have 2 faculty members as facilitators.
- Facilitators have a passive role. Facilitators and candidates introduce themselves, facilitators explain the rules of the game, distribute case situation & get them started. They ensure that everyone participates and no single person dominates
- Time for GD is 30 minutes.
